With the coming inauguration of President Barack Obama and a new 111th Congress, federal policies, programs, and resources will surely shift to new priorities. A new direction for the federal government will mean new domestic spending priorities, renewed focus on infrastructure investments, changes in energy and environmental policies, and new approaches to economic development.
Are you prepared for these major changes in national policies? Are you positioned to avoid the threats, impacts and mandates that could result? Are you ready to take advantage of the potential for new domestic resources to support your organization’s goals?
TFG is focused on the following priority issues that will be part of an incoming Executive Branch and Congress in the coming months:
Energy, Environment & Climate

- Climate change law, policy & resources
- Water supply & flood control funding, regulatory & policy issues
- Wastewater, water & stormwater infrastructure
Transportation
- SAFETEA-LU reauthorization
- Public-private partnerships for transportation infrastructure
- Smart growth & green transportation
Law Enforcement, Public Safety & Emergency Preparedness
- Resources for local law enforcement
- Fate of FEMA and potential support for state and local preparedness & recovery
- Cyber security & homeland security for local entities
Economic & Land Development and Housing
- Housing & financial recovery
- Brownfields, smart growth & green approaches
Education
- Higher education funding & affordability
- Funding for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (“STEM”)
- No Child Left Behind reauthorization & improvement
Budget & Appropriations
- Economic Stimulus legislation
- Completion of FY09 spending bills & earmarks
- FY10 budget priorities
