USDA Funds Wildland Fire Management Projects (posted May 11, 2009)

On May 5, 2009, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced that it will release $224 million in stimulus funding for hazardous fuel reduction and ecosystem improvement projects.  This money will fund 110 projects located on forested lands in over 26 States and territories.

List of BLM Stimulus Projects Released (posted May 5, 2009)

On May 2, 2009, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) announced that it would fund more than 650 projects with the $305 million in stimulus funds allocated to the Bureau.  These projects will fund the development of renewable energy on public lands and restore landscapes and habitats.

Interior Releases $500 Million for Projects in Indian Country (April 29, 2009)

On April 25, 2009, the Department of the Interior announced the availability of $500 million in stimulus funds for new school and housing construction, road and bridge improvements, and workforce development projects for Indian tribes around the nation.

Funding Announced for National Parks (posted April 24, 2009)

On April 22, 2009, the Department of the Interior announced that it will spend $750 million to fund projects at National Parks across the country.  These projects were all considered long-standing priorities by the National Park Service based on its capital planning process.

USGS Stimulus Projects Announced (posted April 15, 2009)

On April 10, 2009, the Department of the Interior revealed that $140 million in stimulus money will fund 308 United States Geological Survey (USGS) projects across all 50 states.  Funding will be provided for earthquake and volcano monitoring, construction, and facility maintenance, among other uses.

Initial Forest Service Stimulus Projects Funded (posted March 24, 2009)

On March 19, 2009, the Forest Service announced the first set of projects to be financed by its allocation of stimulus funds. These projects compromise 10% of the total Forest Service projects which will receive stimulus funding.
