Fire Station Construction Grants Available (posted May 29, 2009)
On May 29, 2009, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) released its solicitation for applications for the Assistance to Firefighters Fire Station Construction Grant Program. A total of $210 million is available through this stimulus program to non-Federal fire departments. FEMA expects to award approximately 100 grants for fire station construction, with a maximum of $15 million per grant. Applications for this program are due by 5:00 p.m. on July 10, 2009.

Coast Guard Funding Allocated (posted April 24, 2009)
On April 20, 2009, the Department of Homeland Security allocated $240 million in stimulus funding to Coast Guard projects. These funds will be spent on bridge alterations, housing for Coast Guard Sectors and upgrades for Coast Guard cutters in 14 different states.
