Community Facilities Grants Recipients Announced (posted May 19, 2009)
On May 18, 2009, the Department of Agriculture announced the awarding of stimulus funding to 280 projects in 39 States under Rural Development’s Community Facilities program. These funds are provided in the form of both loans and grants to develop essential community facilities for public use in rural areas.

HHS Solicits Applications for New Grant Program (posted May 13, 2009)
On May 11, 2009, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced the availability of $50 million in stimulus funding for the Strengthening Communities Fund. This new fund will make grants available to nonprofit organizations and to State, local and tribal governments through separate grant programs. Both sets of grants must be used to strengthen the capacity of nonprofit organizations to help Americans suffering from the economic downturn. Applications for this funding are due on July 7, 2009.

HHS to Issue Solicitations for Strengthening Communities Fund (posted May 5, 2009)
The stimulus bill allocated $50 million to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Administration for Children and Families for a new grant program, tentatively titled the “Strengthening Communities Fund.” It is anticipated that this fund will provide grants to State and local governments, to support and encourage the provision of training, technical assistance, and financial assistance to nonprofit organizations. Some funding will go directly to nonprofit organizations to address economic recovery issues. GSA Releases List of Stimulus Projects (posted April 2, 2009)
On March 31, 2009, the General Services Administration (GSA) released a list of projects that it will fund with the $5.55 billion provided by the stimulus bill for the renovation and modernization of Federal buildings. GSA plans to fund hundreds of projects in all 50 States, the District of Columbia, and two territories with their stimulus money.

Community Development Block Grants Allocation (posted March 16, 2009)
The economic stimulus bill provides $1 billion for HUD's Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) program. This funding is allocated by formula to eligible State and local governments. Per the stimulus legislation, recipients shall give priority to projects that can award contracts based on bids within 120 days of the grant agreement.

EDA Makes $150 Million Available (posted March 12, 2009)
On March 11, 2009, the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) made $150 million in grants available for projects that will stimulate economic growth in distressed communities. Applications are being accepted on a continuing basis.
