USDA Announces Funding for Rural Water and Waste Disposal Projects (April 29, 2009)

On April 28, 2009, the United States Department of Agriculture (UDSA) awarded $615.8 million in stimulus funding to projects that will improve rural water and waste disposal systems.  A total of 193 projects in 34 states will receive these funds.

USDA Funds Watershed Projects (posted April 17, 2009)

On April 16, 2009, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) awarded $84.8 million in stimulus funding to state and local governments for watershed projects.  These projects will help rural communities improve their water quality, increase their water supply, decrease soil erosion, and improve fish and wildlife habitats.

USDA Releases List of Watershed Rehabilitation Projects (posted April 9, 2009)

On April 6, 2009, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) released a list of 27 projects that will receive stimulus funds to rehabilitate aging flood control structures.  A total of $45 million will be awarded to these projects, which are located in over  eleven States.

USDA Disaster Assistance Available for Producers (posted March 18, 2009)

On March 17, 2009, the United States Department of Agriculture announced that crop producers who did not previously purchase crop insurance from federal programs for 2008 are able to obtain eligibility for 2008 crop disaster assistance programs under the stimulus. In order to become eligible for these programs, a producer must pay a nominal buy-in fee before May 18, 2009.

USDA Announces First Wave of Stimulus Funding (Posted March 10, 2009)

On March 9, 2009, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack detailed how the U.S. Department of Agriculture will distribute stimulus funds in the coming months. Among other things, Secretary Vilsack announced that the National Resources Conversation Service will release a combined $130 million this week for watershed projects and that initial funds from the Emergency Food Assistance Program will be distributed later this month.
